The Big Idea Sketchbook

Interactive community installation

The BIG IDEA sketchbook was one of our favorite projects to date. Engaging the public to incorporate the visual language was key, especially Chicago’s youth. We collaborated with a large-scale sculptor and an outdoor awning company to create a 8′ x 10′ replica of a classic composition book. This pop art-size book was installed outside of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.

Complete with individual pages, we used black permanent markers, donated by Copic, to bring the answers to the question “What’s Your Big Idea?” to life. The visual answers came from young and old, and from near and far. We also interacted with some of the young patients at the Lurie Children’s Hospital who had an amazing bird’s eye view!
