The Visual Thinking Sketchbook

Our visual note-takers set out to design the perfect sketchbook with the unique challenges of small-format visual notes in mind. We wanted something that artists and visual thinking enthusiasts alike would love to use. So, we created the Visual Thinking Sketchbook: a large spiral-bound 100-page sketchbook that contains 10 bonus pages of visual thinking pro-tips explained by our new friend, Tittle!

The sketchbook is manufactured by a small woman-owned business in California. And, because we love the earth, it's made with recycled and eco-friendly materials. Pretty cool, right? Get your preorders in before May 27, and they will ship the week of May 30th.

Preorders are limited to two sketchbooks per order.

Made in the USA with Eco-Friendly materials

We partnered with Sketch for Schools to help us bring our dream sketchbook to life. They’re a woman-owned business that manufactures art-quality sketchbooks for students (and now visual note-takers!). Their manufacturing partner is Jenco Productions, located in San Bernardino, California. That means all of our sketchbooks are produced in the United States, reducing shipping emissions and ensuring equitable labor practices.

We strove to make a sketchbook that met the needs of our network of visual thinkers while limiting our impact on the environment. Our shipping materials contain as little plastic as possible.

And, the raw material used for the sketchbook are all American-made!

Cover

For the cover, we wanted to keep our branding subtle so our users would feel comfortable taking the sketchbook anywhere–not like a walking billboard for Ink Factory (we’re taking applications for that position, though). A debossed logo on black matte board fit the bill for sleek and durable while still being eco-friendly.

Sized Just Right

8.5" x 11” is the standard size of paper in the US, so it stacks well with your other documents and is big enough to fulfill the needs of our visual note-takers. It’s also small enough to fit in a backpack or your everyday bag.

Paper

We opted for an 80lb bright white artist paper, which strikes the perfect balance between being sturdy and unintimidating. Plus, the water-based inks we tested do not show (bleed) through the other side of the page. There are 100 sheets of paper in the sketchbook, which should last quite a while, even for the most prolific sketchnoter! And if you use ballpoint pens, pencils, or water-based inks, you’ll be able to utilize both sides of the page.

You can use alcohol-based inks (what's used in permanent markers), but alcohol ink will bleed through all paper that you can buy, so you'll only be able to use one side of the page.

The sketchbook’s paper is acid-free and lignin-free for archival quality, eco-friendly, environmentally responsible, and part of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative.
